Garry Llewellyn Glaskin, an Aquarian, grew up around the suburbs of Fremantle, Western Australia. His early years involved surfing, music and rebellious times. Leaving home as a sixteen year old, he travelled to the east to surf and follow the music industry.

Returning to Western Australia, a year or two later, he married as a young eighteen year old and settled back to TAFE. The next four decades he cemented a career in engineering, to eventually own his current "flange" business. A name he now known by his fishing buddies.

He also remarried twice more and had three sons.

His Aboriginal heritage was not known until late 1978. His grandfather was Jack Hume and his mob was from Wardani/Bibbulum people of the SW of Australia. His heritage is important to him.

In 2006, he and his family relocated to Cairns, Queensland, to enjoy the tropical climate, in so-called semi-retirement.

In 2009 he opened "glaskins gallery" to promote family and local Indigenous artist. He also formed Trinity Picininis of Aboriginal Creative Art for children to teach Aboriginal and Hawaiian art and lore. He acquired the name "Flange Irukandji" from his fishing expeditions in Far North Queensland.

Garry began painting seriously in 2010 after being inspired by his fellow artists and family, and he paints both contemporary abstract and his own interpretation of Wardan Aboriginal art .
